I've posted my review of Alan Baxter's MageSign over on HorrorScope. This is a good piece of Dark Fantasy - I recommend it with a solid 4/5 on the Amazon scale and a good 4/6 on my own scale. It's worth the read.

And I see you have a new icon to the right. Very nice. Must be one hell of a book to get that high on your scale.
ReplyDeleteCheers for the new badge.
ReplyDeleteYep - new badge in place. It won't be on the top for long, but I figured I'd ride the wave while the novelty is still there. I'm guessing other blogs listed will post it somewhere prominent and I may gain some new readers from it, so I figured I'd return the favour.
ReplyDeleteThe book is good. Definitely read the first one though as it adds to the experience of the second. I'm not sure it would have rated quite so high without me having done it this way round. Maybe a 3.5 rather than a 4. It's a great premise Alan has going and a good character he's created in Isiah. PDF books are fairly cheap so it's worth the small outlay for a decent read.
Thanks for the great review!
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested, the books are available in e-book or print. If you want print copies you can get both books for $19.95 each with no postage costs (within Australia) directly from me or Blade Red. Have a look on my site for details: http://www.alanbaxteronline.com/books
If you want, feel free to email me and I can sort you out directly.
Thanks again - glad you enjoyed them!
Now I'm a bit peeved - I much prefer reading books for review in dead tree format - at least until I get hold of an e-reader. And I always prefer to have the books I've read on my shelf. I guess I'll have to actually buy these now - if you'd like me to review future books, Alan, feel free to send me autographed copies - they are much appreciated and gain you an extra 0.1 in the markings before I've even opened the cover ;c)
ReplyDeleteDrop me an email and we can sort something out with signed copies. :)
