Earlier this year I named Necrotic Tissue and The New Bedlam Project as the two main markets I would be aiming at this year. I've not managed to crack NT...yet, but I'm happy to announce I've secured a spot in the town of New Bedlam - the lead off story no less!
Go take a look and let me know what you think.

Lovely, BT. Great imagery in the first few paragraphs, really painting the night.
ReplyDeleteAnd the end...oh. Yes.
Congrats on hitting that goal. I'll have to take it in the atmosphere of your story tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWoot! Congrats, BT!
ReplyDeleteThat story was great. I could hear the utter silence of the town. That was the first time a description of an empty town creeped me out. And the end was just horrifying (in the good way).
It was brilliant. Lovely and dark.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aaron about the word painting, and I really liked the MC. His first bit with the old woman made me think of Harold Hill from the Music Man-- which was so incongruous with the picture you'd painted as to make me intensely uncomfortable. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the kind words.
ReplyDeleteKatey - never seen Music Man (that I remember) so I claim all innocence to any similarities. By the way, can you explain to me what I did so I can do it again... ;c)
Nice one, BT. I loved the old woman calmly reaching into his car to get the suitcase – great image.
ReplyDeleteYay! Congrats. Awesome community, New Bedlam. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks LR - glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteBec - couldn't agree more. Jodi does amazing things in that neck of the woods and attracts only the best kind of people - at least she did until now. I hope I didn't blot her copy book too badly. Still, I don't think my disguise slipped too much. Maybe nobody noticed.
